Sue Sie, Grange member and founder of Backyard to Table, https://www.meetup.com/Back-Yard-to-Table/  inspired our members by presenting her garden plot at the Rhinebeck Community Garden, including container gardens, a garden of the 3 sisters – corn, beans and squash –  and a straw bale garden. JULY, 2017. Looking for a great way to feed your family at the fair without breaking the bank? Stop by the Grange Concession Stand inside the Grange Building. Choose from a wonderful selection of breakfast foods, and lunch and dinner sandwiches and plates and homemade desserts. Picnic tables are set up so you can actually take a break and relax while you eat. The concession is owned and run by the Dutchess Co. Pomona Grange and all proceeds go toward Grange programs.

And … while you’re there, don’t forget to take a look at all the exhibits created by the various Granges in Dutchess Co. in that same aisle. In addition, you will find all kinds of homegrown foods, dog biscuits, baked goods in this building. Enjoy the Fair!

2016 Rhinebeck Grange Fair Exhibit: Look Up! Why Ash trees are Dying

AUGUST, 2016. Rhinebeck Grange was awarded fourth place for our efforts in the Dutchess Co. Fair Exhibit this August. The message focused on the Ash Tree devastation that is being caused by the Emerald Ash Borer throughout New York State. We partnered with the NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation and obtained brochures to handout and specimens to present. We loaned 5 trees from Wonderland Farm as part of the exhibit. Afterward, our members took the remaining brochures and dispersed them around our local area to try to get the word out about the importance of using local plants and wood and not moving wood from one local to another.

2015 Fair Exhibit Brings Attention to Growing Food Needs for Local Pantries

AUGUST 2015. This year, Rhinebeck Grange exhibit was led by David Queen and highlights the continuing need for food in our local communities and shows how the Rhinebeck Grange strives to create community connections.

The Float reappeared from the Memorial Day Parade as the centerpiece of our Fair Exhibit at the Dutchess Co. Fair. The message was again focused on how the Rhinebeck Grange makes community connections by assisting in food drives for our local food pantries. We were able to collect over $400. in goods from grocery stores while approximately $500 more in goods were donated by individuals and the Grange.

After the fair, all food collected will be distributed evenly to the following:
Pine Plains Foot Locker; Hyde Park Reach Out Foot Locker; Church of Messiah-Episcopal Food Pantry, Rhinebeck; Rhinebeck Reformed Chuch Food Pantry, United Methodist Food Pantry, Red Hook; St. John’s Reformed Church Food Pantry, Upper Red Hook; Community Action of Red Hook; and Pleasant Palins Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, Staatsburg.

The members of Rhinebeck Grange P of H 896 extend our thanks to Hannaford Store or Red Hook and Stop and Shop of Rhinebeck, and to our neighbors, friends and Grange members for their generous contributions. Thanks to Williams Lumber and Hardware, Wonderland Florist and Nursery, Welch Surveying and Keil Equipment Co. for help in the creation of the float.
